Irikumi literally means continuous sparring. It is a form of combat where fighters are allowed to use close-fighting techniques such as grappling, take-downs, elbow and knee strikes, etc. There are 2 types of irikumi - "Go" is harder and may end with a KO and "Ju" is softer and is a match to see who has better skills, not to see who is tougher.
